The Contested History of Landlordism

Prof. Terence Dooley

Venue: Courthouse – Meath County Council Stage

Professor Terence Dooley, of Maynooth University, is one of the country’s foremost scholars of rural Irish social history, with a particular interest in the aristocratic occupants of the country’s ‘Big Houses’.  As his contribution to our ‘Speaking Ill of the Dead’ thread in this year’s Hindsight@Hinterland, Terence will examine whether the traditional stereotypical representation of landlords as evil and capricious evictors was justified.
