In 1881, John Mulvany produced the iconic painting 'Custer’s Last Rally', depicting the defeat of the 7^th Cavalry at the battle of the Little Big Horn. The artist, John Mulvany from Dyrallagh, Moynalty, also renowned for his painting of the Battle of Aughrim and many others, is hardly known in his native land.
