Had things panned out differently Oscar Traynor might have had a long and distinguished career as a professional goalkeeper in the 1910’s. But when you are driven to taking part in the Easter Rising and assume command of the Dublin Brigade of the IRA during the War of Independence, football becomes secondary.
In his Masters thesis for Dublin City University Niall Quinn has traced the life and career of the goalie, revolutionary, politician and football administrator. He will be in conversation with Myles Dungan.
