Elaine Feeney

How to Build a Boat

Venue: Courthouse – Meath County Council Stage

When poet, novelist and academic Elaine Feeney, from Athenry in County Galway, was longlisted for the Booker Prize in 2023 for her much-heralded novel How To Build a Boat wise heads nodded, and there was a loud chorus of ‘I told you so’s’. Feeney’s second novel (her 2020 debut was the Folio Prize shortlisted, and Kate O’Brien award-winning As You Were) had already garnered ecstatic reviews before being officially ‘noticed’ by the Booker jury. Building on her early success as a poet, Elaine has now established herself as one of the country’s most exciting writing talents. Elaine will be in conversation with Gerry Foley.
