The timing of the release of Liz Nugent's latest novel, Our Little Cruelties, could have been better. It hit the bookshops at just around the time they closed! But it's still been No.1 in the Irish fiction lists for most of the last three months - further cementing the reputation Liz has acquired as Ireland's premier writer of crime fiction. Liz is a regular visitor to Hinterland and one of our most welcome guests. This year she was to come and talk about her latest work and to interview the great Scottish crime writer Val McDermid. She's been telling broadcaster Deirdre Hurley about Our Little Cruelties, her experience of lockdown and how she's been recovering from a debilitating accident which caused her to have to miss Hinterland: West in San Francisco last November.
