An Bealach go Baile Ghib

Irish (English subtitles) 122 mins

Venue: The Courthouse - Meath County Council Stage

Sa bhliain 1937 chuir an Rialtas, faoi stiúir an Choimisiún Talmhaíochta, scéim athlonaithe i bhfeidhm chun daoine a thabhairt ó cheantair Ghaeltachta in iarthar na hEireann go Baile Ghib i gContae na Mí. Féachann an clár faisnéise seo ar na fathanna gur bhog na clanna úd, fiúntas na scéime agus, chomh maith le sin, déanann agallamh le cuid den dream a d’aistrigh.

In 1937 a number of families from Gaeltachts on the west coast of Ireland moved to Gibbstown in Co. Meath to live on holdings acquired by the Land Commission as part of a government resettlement scheme. This documentary film looks at the reasons why families chose to move, investigates the merits of the scheme, and catches up with some of the remaining migrants. Director Ronan Carley will be present for a Q&A after the film.
